SODIUM SILICATE also known as batik dye fixer or water glass to ensure colors fastness of batik colours. It use for fixing process. The batik colours has to dry before fixing. Then the cloth will be fixed with sodium silicate for about 8 hours. This fixing process is to avoid or protect the cloth from fading easily.

SODIUM SILICATE also known as batik fixer or water glass to ensure colors fastness of batik colors.

  • Brush applied over batik designs on both surfaces of fabric.
  • Leave overnight or 8 hours for full penetration and boil off with soda ash and bicarbonate soda to remove. Followed by cold water rinsing.

Other applications are binder for sand, deflocculant for clay slurry in ceramic slip casting. As an adhesive for sand mold in lost wax casting, sodium silicate react with carbon dioxide immediate setting hard when injected into the silicate sand mix.
